Parkin, the parking operator of Dubai, will implement improved parking enforcement at three major Emaar retail destinations: Dubai Mall, Dubai Hills Mall and Dubai Marina Mall. The relocation is based on a multi-year agreement between Parkin and Emaar Mall Management to enhance parking discipline and facilitate the smooth flow of traffic at the busy shopping centers.
The new system will primarily concentrate on bays that are designated as People of Determination, which will help in ensuring that the bays are only used by authorised permit holders. Parkin will deploy Automatic Number Plate Recognition technology, which will be integrated with the existing mall infrastructure, to identify vehicles and mark potential violations. The system will minimize the abuse of the reserved parking spaces and streamline the parking processes to visitors.
The initiative is part of Dubai’s wider move towards smart mobility and digital parking management. As the number of visitors to malls, particularly Dubai Mall, increases, it is hoped that with improved monitoring, the congestion will be reduced and the overall customer experience will be enhanced.
Parkin indicated that the partnership will facilitate the appropriate utilization of parking facilities and the equitable use of parking facilities by all drivers. The implementation also underscores the increasing role of AI and smart infrastructure in addressing urban transport issues in the emirate.
